At a party I met a slightly rebellious, but relaxed and free-spirited, New Zealander. We were only a couple for a short time - it was destined to fail. I'd have probably pined for him for a while if we hadn't got together – although not quite like this!

It's one of the more jazz influenced songs I've written. I'd been singing some Cole Porter and had always loved the classic song-book, always with a touch of humour within the pathos.
